MALACCA and MARSING / Malaysia

This is my last week in Malaysia and I decided to see some more of the countryside and made my way down to Malacca. The oldest town of Malaysia. Where the Dutch and the English brought there colonies. The old town of Malacca is full of history and this special beauty you only get from sertain places. Most of the houses are not really renovated which means the facade is pealing off, some of the roofs are not completed any more, the renovated roofs have the corrugated metal sheets, plants are growing on the side of the streets or on the walls from the houses wherever they found some cracks, there are ruins next to some nice guesthouses and lanterns or divers decorations is hanging from the balconies or across the streets. But everything seam beautiful and laid back.

The little river which is winding its self in long turns though the town is very neat and and nice to have a long stroll along. There are lots of paintings on the walls of the houses and the little lanterns with the flower trees in between makes it appear like a little storybook village.

I met some amazing people again, some travelers with different destinations and ideas. I like does kind of talks. Sometimes its repeating but I like it in a way.

I actually didn't do much except riding the bike around town and walking the streets up and down. I also bought some amazing tea pot and my bank account is probably in red numbers by now.

However I decided to change my plans and hid down to Mersing instead of Singapore. I took a bus which was a comfortable ride where i did some sketches and listened to music. The Town Mersing in very unspectacualr but every tourist comes down here as it is the closest port for the ferry to go to the islands.

I was walking along around town which looks a little empty. I went down to the sea where you can feel the wind is blowing much stronger, the waves are breaking near the beach which is full of wood and some areas full of garbige where you can see that no one takes any responsibility about that. The corrugated metal roof from the main hall is hitting up and down in the wind and making this high and hard dull noise at the same time which everyone knows from some country movies. Walking along the promenade you see some people with there tuned, but not in a good way, old timers, a guy with his giant yellow phyton, a tent where you can do some pony riding, a bouncy castle or someone how has a horse carriage on the beach. It seam you are in the wrong movie.

The next day i had a fantastic bus ride with a local bus which stops every house you wont. The windows wide open, no AC and benchseats either side. The guy in the row behind you smokes his cigaret, the bus is shaking and jumping I have my music, "Buena Vista Social Club" is playing the nise from the bus i am not able to hear and the scenary is passing by. I have my last past travel experiance, people i met and my family and friends from home in my mind while i am fully happy sitting in this bus smiling towards the sunset. I had full joy in does two hours driving through the countryside with all grean around you from the Jungle or the massive Palm tree plantations and the wind blowing in your face. I am HAPPY.
