HRVOIJ, Slovenia

After the great party weekend
and everything got cleaned up I got a lift to Koper. From there I went to Hrvoij which is close to Topolovec. I actually made it with hitch hiking. I go told that never anyone has made it up there via hitch hiking because there is just no one living. Anyway; I arrived late afternoon and I loved it from the beginning. It was such a fantastic view of 360°. It felt like I could see hole of Slovenia, I could see the sea, Trieste, all the way to Grado and right into the Alps which were still covered in snow.

As I arrived, Petra, Jan and Janez welcomed me with a warm heart which made it even nicer. I got a mattress in the last floor where I put down my sleeping bag for the next view days. The building was completely under construction, there were holes in the ceiling and floors to check how many of the beams they have to change. It turned out that they had to change everything as well as the roof. To make it more clear for you; in, on, at this house everything has to get changed except the solid natural stonewall.

The next couple of days I build a few stairs around the house helped putting up the scaffolding and removed the façade. Already on my third day I got called “workaholic”. I just did what it has to be done.

The hole community and there way of living was a fantastic and mind changing experience. “Sustainable Park Istria” is a very big project and is concentrated on Sustainability in a social, ecologic and environmental way of living. I won’t talk more about it because everybody how is interested should go there them self and check it out, and if it’s just for a weekend.

Next to the building witch once belong to the catholic church is still an very old church and a tower which has been listed 1.000 years ago for the first time but sadly around 1882 burned down and rebuild again. 50 meter behind the tower lays the cemetery which is a very peaceful place and you can observe the landscape, the constant change of the clouds which made me speechless and of course the sunset across the sea.

In summery I spend 9 days in the middle of nowhere and had hard work to do but I had a very peaceful time which I haven`t had for a long time.
