I finaly
have found some time to update my blog again. I have reached Nocrich at 10:00 o’clock
at night, no bell at the outside just a gate. I entered and barking dogs came
running towards me. As it was dark I didn’t know how many and how big. As I
have figured out over time; Rumanian Dogs are only strong behind the fence. In the end I stayed 6 Weeks in the “Scouts
Centre of Nocrich”. I have seen a lot during my stay which I will post later on
Nocrich is
a small village near Sibiu (Hermannstadt). I got a place as a Volunteer without
knowing how long I am going to stay. My work I had to do; cleaning. No matter
what, no matter how dirty. Toilets, Tools-room, Sleeping-room or the yard.
Think of something: I cleaned it. Sounds worse than it was. I had good fun and
It wasn’t the only thing I had to do. I was helping with the organisation of
the Nocrich scouts Camp. I was a driver, Handymen and a Nocrich Family member.
I created with Andreea the DT (design Team) basically someone for everything
(sounds a bit egoistic). The place its self was a fantastic playground for any
outdoor activity. We sat around the fire in the evenings, relaxed in the
Hammock, cycled around the Valley and lived like teenagers would do when they
are alone at home.
The
Villages are mostly along the street, there for very long and narrow. The
houses in this region are mostly done by the Saxon. Small fronts with big
fences and massive gates. Each gate is a masterpiece in woodworks. I have also met
a few German speaking people and Stef how is restoring old houses and runs his
own little museum where I could help out a little as well.
At the
Scouts Camp which has been almost my last week I was taking part as one of the
Nocrich Family Staff members. I was called the “story teller” who teaches via
subconscious mind about discipline and humour. “Learning by doing” that’s the
scouts way. I also took the role of one
of the Photographs. The Camp was very well organized with different workshops
like Pottery, blacksmith, leather sawing, dancing and restauration. We also had
an exploration day with different tasks and a city-quest where the Staff took
part as a patrol.
The
landscape is unbelievable; it has so many varieties and moods during the day and
from the light. Hills with forests, fields and wilderness through Transylvania and
the view from the Valley towards the Mountain chain of Carpathian is undescribable.
The Carpathian is a great place for hiking, mountain climbing and also for
short daytrips. Very narrow roads up the pass with a stunning view over Transylvania
and walks above the forest line made my days.
Thank you to "Nocrich scouts Centre"
Thank you to "everybody I met during my time being"
