DUBAI, UAE / BANGKOK, Thailand

Dubai

After Istanbul where I booked myself a flight I began the journey to Bangkok.
Somehow I caught something bad and had very heavy stomach problems and cramps. I also had extreme sweaty nights and sometimes I lost my balance while walking. That was the reason why I had to see a doctor in the Airport of Dubai where I had my stopover. It was an interesting experience walking behind all does walls where you are not allowed by yourself, the motivation of the people (the don’t have any) and ride with one of does funny vehicles which are running up and down the airport from time to time.
Before I went to the Doctor I got myself a daily ticket for the Metro of Dubai. I had about 14 Hours to wait for my connection flight and travelled all the way to the other end of the City. On the way back I jumped of a few times and had a little walk outside. Not for long because at eight o’clock it’s already so hot that you don’t want to spend much time out there anyway. Back to the Airport after visiting the tallest building in the world and seeing some other architectural places.
For me; it’s not a place to visit but I always said if I have the chance to see it during a stopover I am more than happy. So in the end it turned out quiet convenient for me.

Bangkok

I arrived in the middle of the night and I couldn’t find my couchsurfing place. I ran around for two hours until I found a couple which spoke English and could help me to find a place to sleep. My first Bangkok experience was in the Hotel: I arrived at the reception where the lady was asking me if I want the room for 3 hours or the whole night. I was slightly shocked the first time. I went to the elevator where this old guy came outside with a big smile on his face and two young Thai girls with him. If you couldn’t guess from the first situation in which place I ended up I hope you do now. However it actually didn’t got better. I heard already nice coming from my room. I opened up the TV was on and I could hear some birds flying. The balcony door was open and birds feathers where on the floor. The bathtub was fully stained in this brown beige colour from the water and Ants running along the sink. I was traveling over 24 hours and I didn’t had a shower but I couldn’t put myself in the position to take on. In the morning I convinced myself to grab a shower. This was the last but kind of most disgusting thing that happened to me in that place. I turned on the water and it was brown. Luckily it turned into normal colour though.  FIRST DAY IN BANGKOK.

On the way to the Hostel where I booked myself in for three nights I went with the Skytrain which is a great transportation system. It drives about the same height then a 4-5 Storey house and in-between the trees.

I met up with a different couchsurfing person and she recommended me the hostel where I met some great people from all over the place. Every day I had some different company. We went to the Ghost tower which is about 50 floors high and completely empty. We kind of broke in because we didn’t want to pay the fee for an empty building. We went to some nice restaurant on the river with an amazing view from the roof top restaurant which is quiet unknown. I went to the hospital again to see some proper doctor. I have never been in such a fancy hospital. But after that Visit everything got much better. I also took part at the full moon night where the Thai people where blessing the water and put floating flours with candles in the water. I also organised my Visa for Myanmar. Which will be my (our) next destination.

I met Miriam and Stefan on the 7th of November which I will join for their travel through Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. It was lovely to see Stefan again after such a long time and also to meet Miriam. I also got a present from Anna back in Vienna. I don’t know what she thought about but she gave me a scarf which was designed and made by her off cores. I do love it don’t get me wrong but it’s an interesting present because it has around 30 degree Celsius outside.
